An ideal bridge between Tuscany and Canada is taking shape through a new project that brings together the Consorzio Vino Chianti Classico and the Institut de Tourisme et d’Hôtellerie du Québec (ITHQ), one of North America’s most prestigious schools in hospitality and gastronomy.

The partnership, officially presented on October 1 in Barberino Tavarnelle and Montréal, aims to build an international training program for future sommeliers. Over the next three years, groups of Canadian students will have the chance to immerse themselves in the world of the Gallo Nero, taking part in experiences that combine technical lessons, guided tastings, winery visits, and direct encounters with producers. A journey that not only provides skills, but also offers the opportunity to experience firsthand the culture, landscapes, and food and wine traditions of Chianti Classico.

At the same time, ITHQ will integrate Gallo Nero wines into its academic programs, ensuring visibility and recognition through courses and educational activities. It is therefore a two-way exchange: on the one hand, Italy welcomes the students; on the other, Québec commits to promoting and showcasing Chianti Classico to the Canadian public.

The signing ceremony was attended by key institutional figures: the Hon. Liza Frulla, General Director of ITHQ, Paul Caccia, Head of Communications at ITHQ, together with Giovanni Manetti and Carlotta Gori, respectively President and Director of the Consorzio Vino Chianti Classico.

“For Chianti Classico, Canada is a strategic market, where 10% of Gallo Nero production is consumed, thanks to a long-standing relationship built over time. This collaboration is an extraordinary opportunity to introduce the history and quality of Chianti Classico to young international professionals, helping to shape a new generation of Gallo Nero ambassadors worldwide,”

said Giovanni Manetti, President of the Consorzio Vino Chianti Classico.

The project therefore goes beyond a purely technical agreement, standing instead as a true cultural exchange: an opportunity to create bonds between two different worlds, united by a passion for gastronomy and by the idea that wine is both a cultural product and a concrete expression of its territory. In this sense, the partnership between Chianti Classico and ITHQ is an investment in the future, destined to leave a mark on the training of new generations and on the international promotion of one of the world’s most beloved wine regions.
